Built in 1834 by Ygnacio Machado, the Centinela Adobe is one of the few surviving adobes in LA County and is regarded as the birthplace of Inglewood; the city grew out of the Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela. It sits just over the city line in Westchester, beside the 405.
The Historical Society of Centinela Valley and Inglewood Parks jointly run the house museum, which displays the area's early poultry colony, chinchilla farms and aerospace history. Open Sundays 2-4pm with docent tours; admission is free.
