The Serving Spoon

The Serving Spoon

Harold Sparks opened The Serving Spoon in 1983 and the diner is now run by his grandchildren, Justin Johnson and Jessica Bane. It is the neighborhood's default Saturday-morning table and a regular stop for athletes and musicians passing through town.

The move is catfish and grits, a salmon croquette plate, or a big omelet with a side of pancakes. Breakfast and lunch only, so go early and expect a wait on weekends; the staff keeps things moving and greets regulars by name.
