Intuit Dome was built for basketball. In 2028, that basketball becomes global.
LA28 identifies Intuit Dome as the Inglewood venue for five-on-five Olympic basketball. The arena, completed in 2024 as the home of the LA Clippers, will move from NBA home court to Olympic venue only four years after opening.
The current official competition schedule begins even before the Opening Ceremony. Basketball sessions at Intuit Dome are listed from Wednesday, July 12, 2028, with men’s and women’s group play continuing through the following days. Quarterfinals begin later in July, followed by semifinals and medal games through July 30. LA28 marks the competition schedule as subject to change.
That detail is important for visitors. Someone planning to attend Olympic basketball cannot simply use July 14—the official opening date of the Games—as the start of an Inglewood itinerary. Some basketball ticket holders may be arriving before the ceremony itself.
The first local planning page they should encounter is Where to Eat Near Intuit Dome. By 2028, that guide should be one of Be Inglewood’s most thoroughly reported pages, covering breakfast, quick meals, reservations, late-night food and restaurants representing the city’s Black, Latino, African, Caribbean and other culinary communities.
BASKETBALL IS COMING HOME TO INGLEWOOD IN A NEW WAY.
Wear the city between sessions.
For the building itself, keep the Intuit Dome visitor guide updated with whatever LA28-specific security and transportation information is eventually released. Current everyday guidance about the venue’s app, shuttle and vehicle profile should not automatically be assumed to govern Olympic operations. Official Games transportation guidance should replace ordinary-event instructions once available.
The story also creates a remarkable historical contrast. Just north stands the Forum, which opened in 1967 and became synonymous with an earlier generation of elite basketball in Inglewood. In 2028, Olympic basketball will take place beside that history in a building from an entirely different architectural era.
That makes the Forum history a useful internal link rather than an unrelated detour.
Visitors staying for multiple basketball sessions should also use the main LA28 Inglewood guide. It connects Intuit Dome to Olympic swimming and the Opening Ceremony at the 2028 Stadium, as well as food and historical sites around the city.
For Be Inglewood, this page should be updated whenever LA28 modifies competition dates, releases session ticket information or publishes Games-specific transportation details.
The core URL should not change.
The schedule will evolve.
The fact that Olympic basketball is coming to Inglewood will not.
